Scholarships for International Students

  1. Applicants for financial aid are judged based on their high school grades, scores on national and/or international exams, programme preferences, and other pertinent academic standards.
  2. Scholarships with partial or full tuition waivers are available to qualified applicants. There are five levels of tuition waiver scholarships available, ranging from 20% to 100% in increments of 20%. A small number of top students receiving full tuition waiver scholarships may be eligible for accommodations scholarships.
  3. In the English Preparatory Program, scholarships with tuition waivers are available for a maximum of four semesters, and in four-year undergraduate programmes, they are available for a maximum of ten semesters. Scholarships for housing are available for up to 8 semesters.
  4. With the exception of additional courses, courses taken as part of minor programmes, withdrawn courses, GE100, GE251, and non-credit courses, students on scholarships are required to take at least the minimum course load* from their major department's curriculum each semester and to maintain a minimum Annual-GPA*** of 2.00/4.00. Students in the English Preparatory Program must either pass the PAE exam by the end of the academic year or qualify to take the ECA or PAE exam at the conclusion of each course. Scholarships for students who don't meet these requirements will be reduced by one or two levels and won't be reinstated even if they perform better. Students with an Annual-GPA of less than 2.00 are warned; if they do not meet the requirements by the end of the following year, their scholarships will be reduced by two levels. This warning only applies if there are no Fall or Spring semester courses included in the Annual-GPA.
  5. All scholarship students are required to attend all lectures and academic events, even if the course instructor does not formally track attendance or set a minimum requirement. Scholarships may at any time be temporarily suspended in the event of poor attendance.
  6. Depending on the disciplinary offence and the sanction imposed, a scholarship student may have their current scholarship reduced or revoked if they are subject to disciplinary action.
  7. Students who participated in exchange programmes for one or two semesters must enrol in and successfully complete the equivalent number of courses to their minimum course load.

Merit Scholarship

International students may be qualified to receive a merit scholarship for the following academic year at the conclusion of each academic year if they have completed the minimum curriculum course load, achieved an annual grade point average of 3.30 or higher, and are in the top 5 percent of all non-scholarship students in their programme (excluding any additional courses, withdrawn courses, GE 100-250-251, non-credit courses, and repeated courses already taken in the Fall semester).

According to a student's placement in the top 5%, the scholarship will pay tuition costs to the extent that follows:

Rank Percent of tuition
First 1% 100%
Second 1% 80%
Third 1% 60%
Fourth 1% 40%
Fifth 1% 20%
